2010-03-01:  The United Way of Sumner County is gearing up for this year's STAR awards. STAR stands for Sumner Together Assisting Residents. Awards recognize the top workplace campaigns in the areas of Best Overall Campaign (Hugh Carpenter Award), Leadership Giving, Most Innovative, Most Outrageous, Outstanding Kick-off/Appreciation event, and Most Improved. We also regognize our Volunteer of the Year, our outgoing and incoming Board of Directors, and individual companies are recognized for their participation rates and/or average donation. The local United Way raises funds through workplace campaigns and individual donations to support nonprofit agencies serving the health and human services needs of Sumner County residents. Last year the United Way of Sumner County gave just
under $450,000 to 41 programs from 38 partner agencies.

The 2009 Campaign Awards Breakfast will be held at Bluegrass Yacht and Country Club on March 25, 2010 from 7:30 am until 9:00 am.
