United Way needs your help to assist
families affected by the COVID-19 crises
Dear United Way of Sumner County Supporter,
As we navigate the uncertainty and volatility of this public health crisis, one thing holds true now more than ever: we are all in this together.
Along with our dedicated supporters, United Way of Sumner County remains committed to our community, our partners and our mission to have a positive impact on the lives of Sumner Countians.
During this unparalleled moment in history, we are strengthening our commitment to address the immediate and urgent needs of local residents — as well as longer-term challenges that will affect education, financial stability, and health outcomes across our community in the months ahead.
On March 20, we launched the Sumner County COVID-19 Impact Fund to support this critical work.
The populations we serve are those most vulnerable to economic downturns. Before the Coronavirus pandemic, we know that approximately nine percent of the households in Sumner County were living in poverty, with another 21 percent struggling to make ends meet while working one or more jobs. The crisis we are facing today only worsens that situation as closures, layoffs, and cutbacks leave many hardworking families without a paycheck to cover basic necessities.
The COVID-19 Impact Fund will address the immediate economic impacts faced by many families whose livelihood has been affected by recent changes.
Our organization will continue to work with community leaders and our agency partners to identify resource and service gaps and plan for long-term recovery.
Thank you for being champions for the thousands of individuals and families you help United Way serve. Our mission and our belief in the power of unity are more important today than they have ever been.
We will thrive as a community by confronting this challenge together and taking care of one another. We hope you will consider a personal or corporate donation to the fund by DONATING HERE.
With wishes for safety and health,
United Way of Sumner County Team
