Thank you for your interest in United We Feed. This drive has completed for 2022. Click here for information on who participated, how much was collected, and which agencies benefitted from your generosity!
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) defines food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. According to the Tennessee Commission on Children & Youth's report, "Kids Count State of the Child 2021," in Tennessee:
- In 2019, there were approximately 69,000 children that did not have enough to eat, yet were not eligible for federal nutrition assistance programs.
- One in five children experienced food insecurity in 2020.
- In August of 2021, one in seven households with children "did not have enough to eat in the last week."
Increasing food costs in 2022 have only made the problem worse, leaving many families struggling to pay for food. You can help United Way of Sumner County meet the needs of hungry neighbors. We are collecting canned goods and non-perishable foods to be distributed to our partner agencies that provide food for people in need.
