2024 United We Feed Drive: Nov. 1 - Nov. 30

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) defines food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life

According to Feeding America:

  • In 2021, 17,600 Sumner County residents (9.1%) experienced food insecurity.
  • 57% of those who faced food insecurity in Sumner county in 2021 were "estimated to be above the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) threshold" which means they made more than 130% of the Federal Poverty Level and did not qualify for public assistance to feed their families.  (At United Way, we know them as ALICE.)
  • "In 2022, 49 million people turned to food banks and community programs for help putting food on the table."

You can help United Way of Sumner County meet the needs of hungry neighbors.  We are collecting canned goods and non-perishable foods to be distributed to our partner agencies that provide food for people in need.

Donate items:  (See tab for drop-off locations.)

  1. Canned goods
  2. Non-perishable food items.
  3. You can also shop our Amazon list of items and have them delivered straight to our office.

Donate money to help purchase food for hungry neighbors:

  1. Pay by credit card.
  2. Pay by check.

Participate:

  1. Sign-up to have your company serve as a public drop-off location for United We Feed Drive donations.
    • We'll add your company to our list of sites where the public can bring donations.
    • You can help promote the event at your location and encourage customers/clients to bring donations, as well.
    • We'll supply posters/flyers for you to copy and attach to your collection container and/or to hang at your business, in windows, on bulletin boards, etc., so you can let the public know you are accepting donations on our behalf.  (You provide the collection container- any large box or tub will work.)
  2. Conduct an internal collection campaign at your company and encourage employees to participate.
    • We'll supply posters/flyers for you to copy and attach to your collection container and/or to hang at your business, on bulletin boards, in the breakroom, at the water cooler, on doors, etc., so you can remind employees you are collecting donations on our behalf. (You provide the collection container- any large box or tub will work.)

Contact toni@unitedwaysumner.org to sign-up to be a public drop-off location or to conduct an internal collection campaign.
