After undergoing surgery last fall, one Westmoreland Senior Center member faced ongoing health challenges that made it difficult to leave home. For months, she only visited the Center occasionally, as her strength allowed.

That changed in March, when she and her husband began attending the Center’s new Senior Fitness program—led by a physical therapy technician from Macon Community Hospital. The program was tailored to her abilities, and with consistent participation, her strength and stamina have steadily improved. Today, she’s able to keep pace with other participants and is once again engaged in other Center activities.

Her story is a testament to the power of community-centered programs that support healthy aging and restore independence.
