Volunteer Spotlight: Anna Smith

All of our volunteers have a heart for helping others. Anna Smith has one of the biggest hearts around. Anna first learned about United Way of Sumner County in 2019 while she was working for Publix Supermarkets. During that year, she was chosen by Publix to participate in the Associate on Loan Program. Through that program, Publix sent Anna to work at UWSC for 4 months. “During that time, I got an inside look at non-profit work and what United Way Sumner County does to support the community,” Anna said. “It’s easy to get caught up in my own life and privilege, and to see the needs of our neighbors was eye opening.” After completing her time in the program, Anna returned to volunteer for UWSC whenever she had the opportunity. Anna no longer works in Sumner County, but she still volunteers here whenever she can, bringing her sense of humor and positive attitude to everything she does and we love when she can step away from her job as a Branch Manager at U.S. Bank in Smyrna to help UWSC. She has volunteered at the gala, golf scramble, campaign kickoff, Stuff the Bus and helped with our coat drive. “During my time as an Associate on Loan, I really learned the heart of this team and their genuine desire to make an impact in their community. I know this team and I have no reservations giving my time, energy and dollars because I trust every effort will be put to good use.” Thank you, Anna for all you do!
